The San Lazaro Hospital (SLH) is currently a Special National Hospital Medical Center for Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine with a National Reference Laboratory for HIV, AIDs and other STIs. It provides health care services, particularly to the underprivileged who are afflicted with infectious diseases. Goal for this year is to become a National Specialty Center with Expanded Health and Diagnostic Services, Training, and Research Capabilities for Infectious Disease and Tropical Medicine (IDTM) at par with global standards.
Consistency and Excellence: San Lazaro Hospital Retains Five-Star Green Viability Rating
San Lazaro Hospital (SLH) successfully retained its coveted Five-Star Green Rating in the Green Viability Assessment (GVA) System, a recognition received on December 1, 2025. This esteemed award was presented by the Department of Health's Health Facility Development Bureau at the 2025 Green Health Facilities Recognition ceremony held at Swiss-BelHotel, Manila.
Under the continuous and instrumental leadership of Dr. David T. Suplico, SLH has been a Five-Star GVA facility since 2022. The hospital's latest achievement is credited also to its Five Star Energy Audit Rating given by the Department of Energy which is also included to the Energy Efficiency category of the GVA.

The OPD Animal Bite Treamtent Center will remain CLOSED on September 3, 2024 (TUESDAY) ALL NEW Category III* Animal Bite Cases will be catered at the Emergency Department OPD will resume normal operations on September 4, 2024 (WEDNESDAY) *Category III- Major exposures, transdermal bites, licks on broken skin or mucous membrane, bites on head and neck area, exposure to a rabies patient, unprotected handling of infected carcass, ingestion of raw infected meat, exposure to bats *will also include Cat II exposures but the patient is either of the following: infants <2 years old, elderly, immunocompromised, from a disaster area or lives outside Metro Manila.
